Our Values

gospel

The gospel is our central passion and the fountain from which all of our other values flow. The gospel is the power of God ultimately displayed in the person of Jesus Christ and it is the only way to eternal life and the only means by which people truly grow. The gospel is meant to inform and transform all things and it must be at the center of how we think, believe, communicate and live. The gospel changes everything.

(Isaiah 61:1, Romans 1:16, 1 Corinthians 2:2, Galatians 2:14)

Bible

The Bible (along with the work of the Spirit of God) is the ultimate source for the growth and nourishment of our faith and spirituality.

(Joshua 1:8, John 5:39, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

community

The gospel teaches us that Jesus came not merely to save individuals, but rather to create a new Kingdom community. This new community is a lasting community of love, faith, grace and truth. This community is meant to function as an alternative community within our communities where Kingdom values are taught and cherished. A gospel community nurtures the faith of individuals and families and serves as a sign of God's coming Kingdom.

(Matthew 5:14, Mark 1:15, Acts 2:42-47, 1 John 3:11-18)

changed lives

The gospel is the only true and lasting means by which lives are transformed and this transformation happens from the inside out. The gospel transforms our actions, but even deeper it transforms our motivations. The gospel ultimately grants us a new identity rooted in the righteousness of Christ. Because of this transformation, we begin to understand that we were "bought at a price" and we must no longer live for ourselves, bur for our Creator and Savior. The gospel changes us in such a way as to live our lives as missionaries within our own individual context, compelled by the love of Christ.

(Isaiah 61:2-3, Jeremiah 31:31-34, 1 Corinthians 6:20, 2 Corinthians 5)

prayer

Through the finished work of Christ on the cross we can now approach God as Father in boldness through prayer.

(Matthew 6, Luke 11)

renewal

The gospel renews each of us as individuals but it also renews our cities and communities as well. The gospel motivates us by the redemption we have received through Christ and encourages us to be agents of reconciliation and restoration in our relationships and our communities. The gospel always motivates people to action.

(Isaiah 61:4, Matthew 28:19-20, Revelation 21:5)

GOD

God is our supreme treasure in life and His glory and fame is our ultimate motivation.

(Isaiah 61:3, 2 Corinthians 4:6, Colossians 3:23)
