I am currently looking for people (male OR female, members or non-members) to expand our Sunday Morning Sound Team. I know many of you are already committed, and if so that is great, but hopefully some are looking for ways to be involved or know people that are looking.
It is really not as technically daunting as it first appears. I had never run a sound board before last July when Kyle and Jonah asked if I was interested. But now I am in charge of that aspect of the service (even though I still sometimes feel like I have no idea what I'm really doing!?) You need literally no prior experience, I am willing to help anyone who is willing learn. The biggest key is simply doing a little work so you can understand the process, what elements are important, and how to deal with problems that always seem to arise quickly and with bad timing! Once you have a basic understanding down, it really is as easy as showing up, turning things on, and making a few tweaks. I have a number of resources, books and my own experiences to share, to help anyone along.
Anyone interested or that knows someone who might be interested, please get ahold of me. I am not looking for someone to be there every week, but rather to establish a few teams capable of running things well so no one gets burned out. This will become especially important in the future when we eventually, God willing, begin running 2 services.
Again, it really isn't as intimidating or hard as initial appearances. I promise I can train anyone willing to learn, dedicated to doing a job with excellence, and that can at least recognize the difference between music and earsplitting feedback (haha, kind of a joke).
Thanks for everything you all give and do, I hope to hear from some of you soon.
Mike Pruett
P.S. - It would be incredibly helpful for those interested in learning to be able to attend a few music practices, which are every Thursday from 7-9 PM at the building, or at least come early at 8 on a few Sunday mornings during setup, because many of the tasks and concepts are much more easily learned first hand rather than me just telling you everything.
